Lotus Training Overview

During this course you will learn how to install and configure the Notes client to access Domino Servers for both general database and mail access.

This is an intensely practical course, offering significant hands-on experience with the Domino Administrator and Notes client software.

Lotus Training Learning Objectives

In this course, you will learn how to:

  • create an Organizational Unit Certifier ID and configure it for ID/password recovery and alternate language names
  • utilize Setup Profiles for initial set up defaults and dynamic client configuration
  • create groups to manage Notes users in Server and database security access lists and mail addressing
  • install, set up, and configure Notes clients
  • configure basic mail in a single-Server/single-Notes Network domain
  • counter virus threats to the Notes client
  • enforce passwords and password changes during User authentication
  • use the Administration Process to automate user identity changes and to recertify expired certificates
  • recover a lost User ID or forgotten password using Password Recovery
  • synchronize users and groups between the NT and Domino directories.

This course is part of a series of courses. Follow these paths to master all aspects of the Domino Server, Domino Administrator, and the administration of Lotus Notes and browser clients:

This course is designed for Domino administrators who are responsible for supporting Lotus Domino Servers and Notes Clients and who:

  • are proficient Notes R5 users
  • have installed and configured a Domino Server (R5)
  • have taken the Domino Administration Basics course or have the equivalent knowledge.

Please consult the Set Up document for this course to make sure the correct environment is in place before starting the course. This course requires a pre-configured Domino Server, a pre-configured Domino Administrator client, and a third computer to be set up as a Notes client.
