Lotus Domino 7 to 8 Administrator Update
Lotus Training Overview

This course explains the new features benefits of upgrading to Notes and Domino 8 and describes how to plan for and upgrade an existing installation. You will learn the proper sequence to install the software and update databases to avoid problems and service disruptions.

This course covers new administration tools and messaging features. It also explores the many new features that make it easier to monitor and control Domino servers and Notes clients.

Lotus Training Learning Objectives

In this course, you will learn how to:

  • List the differences between the Notes Standard and Notes Basic configurations.
  • Use the proper sequence to install and configure Domino and Notes 8 over an existing installation and how to immediately take advantage of the new performance, administrative, and security features.
  • Implement the new policy settings document types and understand how to use the new fields on other settings documents.
  • Describe the performance enhancements made to the Administration Process.
  • Configure message recall support, out-of-office message processing, and Inbox maintenance.
  • Use the new messaging-related features that reinforce Domino’s status as an enterprise-strength mail system.
  • Understand the Domino Domain Monitoring enhancements that make it easier to configure and understand its troubleshooting suggestions.
  • Describe the miscellaneous performance, DB2 integration, and security enhancements.
Lotus Training Audience

This course is designed for experienced Notes and Domino 7 administrators who plan to upgrade their environment to Notes and Domino 8. You will find this course especially rewarding if you have already installed a Domino 8 server and a handful of Notes 8 clients and have brought your questions to class.

This course covers enhancements to Notes and Domino Designer only if they relate to Domino 8 and Domino Administrator 8.

If you are new to Notes and Domino 8, this is not the right course for you, as it assumes significant prior knowledge of Notes and Domino 7. You should, instead, participate in a series of Domino administration training courses. Follow this series of courses to master all aspects of the Domino 8 server, Domino Administrator 8, and the administration of Lotus Notes 8 clients:

Courses later in the series assume that you have mastered the content of earlier courses.

Lotus Training Course duration

This course is designed as a half-day seminar/lecture and demonstration course, but can be lengthened and modified to include hands-on activities.
