Lotus Domino R5 Administration Basics
Lotus Training Overview

During this course you will install and configure the Domino Server and Domino Administrator. When you finish the course, the Server will be ready to service Notes clients.

This course emphasizes security and replication--two primary features of the Domino Server.

This is an intensely practical course, offering significant hands-on experience with the Domino Server and Domino Administrator software.

Lotus Training Learning Objectives

In this course, you will learn how to:

  • install, set up, and configure the Domino Server and Domino Administrator
  • use Domino Administrator to monitor the status of Domino Servers
  • extend your organization using Organizational Unit Certifiers
  • cross certify other organizations to use your Domino Server
  • understand and configure server and database security
  • use groups to manage server and database security access lists
  • configure the Administration Process to automate administrator tasks
  • replicate databases and schedule automated replication between Domino Servers
  • maintain Domino databases and servers and configure them for optimum performance.
Lotus Training Audience

This course is part of a series of courses. Follow these paths to master all aspects of the Domino Server, Domino Administrator, and the administration of Lotus Notes and browser clients:

Courses later in the series assume that you have mastered the content of earlier courses.

This course is designed for LAN administrators who are responsible for supporting Lotus Domino Servers and Notes Clients and who:

  • have never administered a Domino Server
  • are proficient Notes R5 users
You will find this course most useful if prior to this course you have:

  • studied the principles and operation of personal computer networking using TCP/IP in LAN and WAN environments
  • installed and supported the operating systems used in this course (Windows NT/95) as well as applications used by those systems
  • installed, administered, and supported network operating system server and workstation software.
You will find the course especially rewarding if you have already installed a Domino Server and a handful of Notes Clients and have had some experience designing Notes databases.
