Overview

Students will learn advanced features of PowerPoint, as well as how to embed Microsoft Word tables and Microsoft Excel charts in a presentation. Students should have a working knowledge of PowerPoint, as well as a basic understanding of word processing and spreadsheet concepts.

Prerequisites

To ensure students’ success with this course, we recommend that they first take the following courses or have equivalent knowledge:
  • Windows 95: Introduction
  • PowerPoint 97: Introduction (Windows 95)
Performance-Based Objectives
  • Create a custom template by selecting a color scheme, background fill, and fonts.
  • Enhance a presentation by using graphic objects.
  • Examine the concept of embedded and imported information by using Microsoft applications.
  • Enhance a slide containing a flow chart by using advanced drawing techniques.
  • Customize the PowerPoint environment by modifying toolbars and using the Options dialog box.
  • Enhance a presentation by using animation.
  • Bring PowerPoint meeting notes into Word by using the Meeting Minder.

  • 8 megabytes (MB) of Random Access Memory (RAM) for use on Windows 95 (16 MB recommended); 16 MB of RAM for use on Windows NT Workstation
  • 121 MB of hard-disk space for Custom installation of PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • a personal computer with a 386 DX or higher processor (486 recommended)
  • Microsoft Windows 95 operating system or Microsoft Windows NT Workstation operating system version 3.51 or later (will not run on earlier versions of Windows)
  • 3.5” high-density disk drive
  • Windows-compatible mouse and printer
  • You will also need an installed sound card and speakers if you want to hear the animation effects applied in the course.
