Oracle Database 10g R1 & R2: New Features For Administrators
Oracle Training Overview

This Oracle 10g courseware training guide book will review all of the major administration features and improvements introduced with Release 1 and Release 2 of the Oracle database version 10g. Students will be able to apply their experience with previous releases of the Oracle database to this new release, which offers numerous productivity and manageability improvements.

Oracle Training Prerequisites

The mandatory prerequisite for this course is extensive experience administering an Oracle database using version Oracle9i. Those who lack such experience would be better served by completing the curriculum for new database administrators comprising the following course modules:
  • The course ORACLE DATABASE 10G: ADMINISTRATION I
  • The course ORACLE DATABASE 10G: ADMINISTRATION II
Those who have experience administering Oracle databases prior to Oracle9i should at least obtain and read the following course before proceeding onto this course:
  • The course ORACLE 9i NEW & ADVANCED FEATURES FOR ADMINISTRATORS
Suggested Next Courses

Administrators may wish to obtain additional experience in the operating system platform on which their Oracle databases have been deployed. This is available from the curricula for MS Windows Server, Linux and UNIX. As alluded to above, the following Oracle courses are suggested to follow this course:

Oracle Training Objectives

Within this course, students will learn how to:
  • Install and initially configure, or upgrade an Oracle10g database.
  • Load and unload data between databases using the Data Pump architecture.
  • Enable and configure automatic database management.
  • Utilize advanced self-tuning and self-management capabilities, including the use of the database Advisors and other components of the Management Framework.
  • Take advantage of the new recovery features available from flashback, flashback database, the flash recovery area and RMAN enhancements.
  • Enable and use general storage management enhancements and incorporate the powerful new automatic storage management (ASM) option.
  • Work within the changed Enterprise Manager (EM) interface and the database control.
