Overview

Welcome to Notes 6: Mail and Calendars. This course is for the new user of Notes 6 and assumes no experience with Notes or any other email application. The topics covered are the critical skills you need to get started sending and responding to email in Notes, as well as maintaining your calendar and scheduling meetings.

Course Objectives

You will use Notes 6 to send and receive mail messages, schedule appointments and meetings, maintain a list of contacts, and keep track of tasks.

Prerequisites

To ensure students' success with this course, we recommend that they first take the following course or have equivalent knowledge: Introduction to Personal Computers Using Windows XP or Introduction to Personal Computers Using Windows 2000

Target Student

The target student for this course is an end user who has not used an email package, works for a company that uses or is moving to Notes, needs to send and receive emails, and manage his/her calendar and To Do list.

Performance-Based Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • identify the components of the Notes client environment, explore the mail database, and create and respond to messages.
  • create mail messages by using various mail options.
  • manage your mail by using folders and rules.
  • add contacts and create mail groups.
  • use the calendar to schedule appointments.

Hardware Requirements

  • Intel or Pentium processor.
  • A monitor that will support 800 x 600 resolution or higher.
  • A Windows-compatible mouse.
  • 275 MB of hard-disk space.
  • 128 MB of RAM required; 256 MB of RAM recommended.
  • Either a local CD-ROM drive, DVD drive, or access to a networked CD-ROM drive.
  • A Local Area Network (LAN) adapter that works with any network operating system that supports Notes.
