Overview
This course is designed for new users of GroupWise 8.0, who have no experience with Lotus Notes, Microsoft Outlook, or any other email applications. The topics covered in this course include the critical skills needed to create, send, and respond to email in GroupWise, maintain a list of contacts, schedule appointments, and manage tasks.
Course Objectives
You will use GroupWise to send and receive email messages, schedule appointments and meetings, maintain a list of contacts, and keep track of tasks.
Prerequisites
To ensure students' success with this course, we recommend that they have introductory skills for navigating, accessing, and saving documents in a Windows operating system.
Target Student:
Anyone new to GroupWise 8.0, who needs to use the application for sending and receiving email, notes, tasks, and appointments.
Performance-Based Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- explore the GroupWise 8.0 environment, the fundamental features of GroupWise, and its Help system.
- work with email and phone messages.
- manage email and phone messages.
- work with address books and manage contacts using personal address books and mail groups.
- use the Calendar to schedule appointments and create reminders in order to suitably allot your time to various tasks.
- work with resources and multi-user views.
Hardware Requirements
The following requirements are for the server:
- Server class Intel® Pentium® III, but Intel® Pentium® IV recommended
- S10 GB Hard Disk
- SValid TCP/IP networking IP addresses
- S256 MB of RAM minimum; 512 MB of RAM recommended
- SPS/2 or serial mouse
- SCD-ROM drive
The following requirements are for the client workstations:
- Intel® Pentium® IV or faster processor
- S20 GB Hard Disk
- S256 MB of RAM or more
Platform Requirements
- Microsoft® Windows XP Professional.
Software Requirements
The following requirements are for the server:
- GroupWise® 8.0
- NetWare® 6.5 (enough client licenses for students in the classroom). You will also need the latest support pack installed.
- Apache server for NetWare® 6.5 installed
- Valid IP addresses and domain names (an IP address, an IP address of a Domain Name Server, and the name of your domain)
The following requirements are for the client workstations:
- Microsoft® Windows 2000/XP
- NetWare® Client for Windows XP/ 2000 version 4.91 SP2 English
