Internet Explorer 6.0: Introduction
Overview

This course is designed for persons desiring to use the newest version of Internet Explorer for viewing the Internet.

Prerequisites

To ensure your success, we recommend you first take the following course or have equivalent knowledge:

This course is designed for persons desiring to use the newest version of Internet Explorer for viewing the Internet.

Performance-Based Objectives

  • Display web sites.
  • Search for information.
  • Communicate with others using the Internet.
  • Acquire information from the Internet.
Delivery Method

Each lesson covers one broad topic or set of related topics. Lessons are arranged in order of increasing proficiency with Internet Explorer 6.0; skills you acquire in one lesson are used and developed in subsequent lessons. For this reason, you should work through the lessons in sequence. We organized each lesson into results-oriented topics. Topics include all the relevant and supporting information you need to master Internet Explorer 6.0, and activities allow you to apply this information to practical hands-on examples.

Hardware/Software Requirements

You will need:

  • Pentium 133 MHz or higher processor required for all operating systems.
  • 64 MB of RAM recommended minimum for Windows 2000 Professional. We recommend a Pentium 2 or higher processor with 128 MB of RAM.
  • 600 MB of free hard-disk space.
  • Either a local CD-ROM drive or access to a networked CD-ROM drive.
  • A mouse, or compatible pointing device.
  • VGA or higher-resolution monitor; Super VGA recommended.
  • An Internet connection with access to the World Wide Web is necessary to complete some tasks throughout the book.
  • Access to a Microsoft Exchange Server.
  • Windows XP Professional. This book was written using the Windows XP Professional operating system. Using this book with other operating systems may affect how the activities work.
  • Outlook Express 6. This version of Outlook Express is shipped and installed with Windows XP. If you are using a different operating system, Outlook Express 6 may need to be purchased.
  • Internet Explorer 6.0. This version is also shipped with Windows XP. If you are using a different operating system, you can download this version from the Microsoft Web site.
  • Microsoft Exchange, Internet SMTP/POP3, IMAP4, or other MAPI-compliant messaging software required for email features.
  • An installed printer driver. (Printers are not required; however, each PC must have an installed printer driver to use Print Preview.)
