Overview
This course is the second in a three-course series that satisfies the requirements for the Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) certification. This course will expand upon the skills you learned in the Excel 2002Level 1 course and give you an opportunity to work with some more advanced features of Excel, including templates; sorting and filtering; importing and exporting; advanced formulas; analysis tools; and collaboration.
Course Objectives
You will create templates, sort and filter data, import and export data, analyze data, and collaborate on the Web in Excel.
Prerequisites
To ensure your success, we recommend that you have experience accessing Web pages in a browser. Also, taking the following course or having equivalent knowledge is recommended:
Target Student
Students desiring to prepare to be a certified Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) in Excel, and who already have knowledge of the basics of Excel, including how to create, edit, format, and print basic worksheets and charts. In addition, students desiring to gain the skills necessary to create templates, sort and filter data, import and export data, analyze data, and collaborate on the Web in Excel.

Certification
Microsoft
Excel 2002: Level 2 is one of a series of courseware titles that addresses Microsoft Office Specialist (Office Specialist) skill sets. The Office Specialist program is for individuals who use Microsoft's business desktop software and who seek recognition for their expertise with specific Microsoft products. Certification candidates must pass one or more product proficiency exams in order to earn Office Specialist certification.
Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3)
Excel 2002: Level 2 is one of four courseware titles that address the Module 2 (Key Applications) objectives of the Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) program. Modules 1 (Computing Fundamentals) and 3 (Living Online) objectives are addressed in other courseware titles. Certification candidates must pass three exams--one associated with each module--in order to earn IC3 certification.

Platform Requirements
Hardware Requirements
- A Pentium 133 MHz or higher processor required for all operating
systems.
- A minimum
of 64 MB of RAM, recommended, for Windows 2000 Professional; in addition,
you should have 8 MB of RAM for each application running simultaneously. (Note:
Memory requirements may differ for other operating systems.)
- A minimum of 516 MB of free hard-disk space. (Under Windows
2000, at least 4 MB of space must be available in the Registry.)
- Either a local CD-ROM drive or access to a networked CD-ROM
drive.
- A 3.5”-disk drive.
- A two-button mouse, an IntelliMouse, or compatible pointing
device.
- A VGA or higher-resolution monitor; Super VGA recommended.
- An installed
printer driver.
- A 9600 baud
modem or higher. An Internet connection with access to the World Wide Web
is necessary to complete some tasks throughout the book. (Note: Internet access
may require payment of a separate fee to a service provider; local charges
may also apply).
- Access to a discussion server if you want to complete the
activities in the “Create Discussion Comments” and “Respond
to Discussion Comments” topics.
