WordPerfect 12: Level 3
Overview

If you use WordPerfect 12 on a regular basis, then once you have mastered the basic skills, the next step is to improve your proficiency. To do so, you can customize and automate the way WordPerfect 12 works for you. WordPerfect 12: Level 3 expands your level of productivity by customizing the WordPerfect environment. In addition, you will work with graphics to enhance your documents. You will collaborate with others while reviewing and changing documents. You will also manage large documents and work with legal documents. Finally, you will learn to share files with others that do not have WordPerfect. .

Course Objectives

You will examine the advanced features of WordPerfect 12 and apply this knowledge to create complex documents and share them with other users.

Prerequisites

Basic PC/Windows skills and knowledge; and skills and knowledge in creating, modifying, and formatting WordPerfect documents (WordPerfect 12: Level 1 and WordPerfect 12: Level 2).

Target Student
Any business, government, law office, small business, or home office user of Presentations 12. . .

Performance-Based Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • apply WordPerfect settings and work with toolbars.
  • create and edit contacts in the Contacts folder.
  • use a number of features in WordPerfect to assist you in sharing documents. First, you will password protect your document to prevent unauthorized users from accessing it. You will also create and use SpeedLinks in a document, and add and edit comments.
  • route a document to multiple users, use comparison markings to mark two documents, and then accept or reject the changes.
  • create and insert TextArt images, create a watermark, create a layered drawing, and create, edit, and format an organization chart.
  • work with master documents, create cross-references, create a table of contents, create an index, add paragraph and line numbering to documents, insert variables in a document, and work with footnotes and endnotes.
  • explore Legal mode, create a pleading document, customize reveal codes, create a table of authorities, and publish a document to EDGAR.
  • share files, create web documents and hyperlinks, and create a portable document file.

Platform Requirements
  • Windows XP Professional. This course was written using the Windows XP Professional operating system with SP1 installed. WordPerfect 12 will run on Windows 2000 with SP3, Windows NT 4 with SP6a, Windows 98 SE, or Windows ME. However, using this course with other operating systems or configurations may affect how the activities work.
Hardware Requirements

  • Personal computer with a Pentium 166-MHz processor or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 64 MB of RAM (128 MB recommended).
  • 330 MB of free hard-disk space.
  • Either a local CD-ROM drive or access to a networked CD-ROM drive.
  • A two-button mouse, an IntelliMouse, or compatible pointing device.
  • Super VGA, 16-bit color monitor supporting 800 x 600 or higher resolution.
  • An installed printer driver. (Printers are not required; however, each PC must have an installed printer driver to use Print Preview.)
  • 28.8-Kb/s modem or faster.
  • An Internet connection with access to the World Wide Web may be necessary to complete some tasks in the book. (Note: Internet access may require payment of a separate fee to a service provider; local charges may also apply.)
Software Requirements
  • A custom setup of WordPerfect® Office 12, including Adobe® Acrobat® Reader™ 6.0. See the Class Setup section below for details.
  • A custom installation of Microsoft Outlook 2002. See the Class Setup section below for details.
  • A web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer.
