WordPerfect 12: Level 2
Overview

In the first course in this series, WordPerfect 12: Level 1, you gained all the basic skills that you need to create a wide range of standardized business documents. If you use WordPerfect 12 on a regular basis, then once you have mastered the basic skills, the next step is to improve your proficiency. To do so, you can customize and automate the way WordPerfect 12 works for you, and you can improve the quality of your work by enhancing your documents with customized WordPerfect 12 elements. In this course, you will increase the complexity of your WordPerfect 12 documents by adding components such as customized lists, tables, charts, and graphics. You will also create personalized WordPerfect 12 efficiency tools .

Course Objectives

You will work with WordPerfect tables; create and edit styles and templates; merge data, documents, envelopes, and mailing labels; create and edit macros; and import graphics.

Prerequisites

Basic PC/Windows skills and knowledge; and skills and knowledge in creating, modifying, and formatting WordPerfect documents (WordPerfect 12: Level 1).

Target Student
Any business, government, law office, small business, or home office user of Presentations 12. .

Performance-Based Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Modify tables.
  • Identify the basics of formatting with styles.
  • Discover how to create and use templates.
  • Combine information from two documents into a single document by using the Merge feature.
  • Merge data from an Address Book.
  • Explore the Sort feature, types of sort records, and sort keys.
  • Create, play, and edit macros.
  • Format text into columns and insert a graphic.

Hardware Requirements

  • Personal computer with Pentium 166 MHz processor or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 64 MB of RAM (128 MB recommended).
  • 195 MB of free hard-disk space for minimum installation (399 MB for maximum). Space requirement may vary by configuration.
  • Either a local CD-ROM drive or access to a networked CD-ROM drive.
  • A two-button mouse, an IntelliMouse, or a compatible pointing device.
  • Super VGA, 16-bit color monitor supporting 800 x 600 or higher resolution.
  • An installed printer driver. (Printers are not required; however, each PC must have an installed printer driver to use Print Preview.)
Software Requirements
  • A custom setup of WordPerfect Office 12. See the Class Setup section for details.
  • A custom installation of Outlook 2002 from Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage. See the Class Setup section for details.
  • Windows XP Professional. This course was written using the Windows XP Professional operating system with SP1 installed. WordPerfect 12 will run on Windows 2000 with SP3, Windows NT 4 with SP6a, or Windows 98 SE. However, using this course with other operating systems or configurations may affect how the activities work.
