Welcome to Microsoft Word 2002: Level 2. This course is the second in a series of three Microsoft Word 2002 courses. By taking this course, you will expand upon the basic concepts that you learned in the Microsoft Word 2002: Level 1 course as well as be introduced to new intermediate concepts with an opportunity to apply them

Course Objectives
You will use Microsoft Word intermediate features for creating custom templates and styles, managing tables and table data, inserting graphics, creating a newsletter, sending form letters, creating a Web page, and managing document changes
Prerequisites
Students enrolling in this course should be familiar with personal computers, and know how to use Word 2002 to create, edit, format, and print standard business documents complete with tables. To ensure your success, we recommend you first take the following course or have equivalent knowledge:

This course is designed for persons interested in learning the intermediate features of Word 2002. It is also intended for those preparing to pursue certification as Microsoft Office User Specialists (MOUS) in Word.

Performance-Based Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to
- create and modify custom templates, apply existing styles,
and create a custom style.
- enhance a table by merging table cells, sorting and calculating
table data, and creating charts based on various table data.
- learn how to insert, manipulate, and format graphic images,
including clip art, AutoShapes, WordArt, and organization charts.
- create a newsletter using columns, sections, and graphics.
- use the Mail Merge Wizard to mail merge form letters, complete
with mailing labels.
- create a Web page, create and edit a hyperlink, save and
preview a Web page, as well as enhance a Web page by applying themes.

Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3): Word 2002: Level 2 is one of four courseware titles that address the Module 2 (Key Applications) objectives of the Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) program. Modules 1 (Computing Fundamentals) and 3 (Living Online) objectives are addressed in other courseware titles. Certification candidates must pass three exams--one associated with each module--in order to earn IC3 certification.

Platform Requirements
- Windows 2000 Professional. This book was written using the Windows 2000 Professional operating system. Using this book with other operating systems may affect how the activities work. Note: The manufacturer states that Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage will work with Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows ME, and Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0. Office XP Professional with FrontPage will not run on the Microsoft Windows 3.x, Microsoft Windows NT 3.5x, or Microsoft Windows 95 operating systems
Hardware Requirements
- Pentium 133 MHz or higher processor required for all operating
systems.
- 64 MB of RAM recommended minimum for Windows 2000 Professional;
in addition, you should have 8 MB of RAM for each application running simultaneously.
(Note: Memory requirements may differ for other operating systems).
- 600 MB of free hard disk space. (Under Windows 2000, at least
4 MB of space must be available in the registry.)
- Either a local CD-ROM drive or access to a networked CD-ROM
driver for installation purposes.
- A floppy-disk drive.
- A two-button mouse, an IntelliMouse, or compatible pointing
device.
- VGA or higher resolution monitor; Super VGA recommended.
- An installed
printer driver.
- An Internet connection is required in order to complete some
tasks for this class; therefore, you will need a 9600 baud modem or higher.
- If you plan
to key the “Performing a Mail Merge Using Outlook Contacts” optional
activity in Lesson 5, “Sending Form Letters,” you will need a
Microsoft Exchange Server. See the Class Setup section for details.
