Overview
You know to use Microsoft® Office Word 2007 to create and format typical business documents. Now, you may need to work on more complex documents. In this course, you will use Word to create, manage, revise, and distribute long documents and forms.

Prerequisites
Students should be able to use Microsoft Office Word 2007 to create, edit, format, save, and print business documents that contain text, tables, and graphics. Students should also be able to use a web browser and an email program. A basic understanding of XML would also be helpful. In order to understand how Word interacts with other applications in the Microsoft Office System, students should have a basic understanding of how worksheets and presentations work. To ensure success, you need to first take the following courses or have equivalent knowledge:

Office Specialist Program
Platform Requirements
- Windows XP
- Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
Hardware Requirements
For this course, you will need one computer for each student
and one for the instructor. Each computer will need the following minimum
hardware components:
- A 1 GHz Pentium-class processor or faster.
- Minimum 256 MB of RAM. 512 MB of RAM is recommended.
- A 10 GB hard disk or larger. You should have at least 1 GB
of free hard disk space available for the Office installation.
- A CD-ROM drive.
- A mouse or other pointing device.
- 1024 x 768 resolution monitor recommended.
- Network cards and cabling for local network access.
- Internet access (contact your local network administrator).
- A printer or an installed printer driver.
- A projection system to display the instructor’s computer
screen.
For this course, you will need one computer for the classroom
to run Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition and Exchange Server 2007 that
meets the following system requirements:
- An Intel Pentium or compatible 800-megahertz (MHz) or faster
processor, or an x64 architecture-based processor that supports Intel Extended
Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T), or an x64 architecture-based computer
with AMD 64-bit processor that supports AMD64 platform.
- Minimum 2 GB of RAM is required. 2 GB of RAM per server plus
5 megabytes (MB) of RAM per mailbox is recommended.
- At least 1.2 GB of available disk space on the drive on which
you install Exchange. An additional 500 MB of available disk space is needed
for each Unified Messaging (UM) language pack that you plan to install.
- 200 MB of available disk space on the system drive.
- DVD-ROM drive, local or network accessible.
- VGA or higher video adapter and monitor.
- Keyboard and Microsoft mouse or other input device.
- Paging file size should be equal to the amount of RAM in the
server plus 10 MB. The paging file size recommendation accounts for the amount
of memory needed to collect information if the operating system fails. By
default, if the operating system fails, it will copy everything in memory
to a .dmp file. That file can be examined later to determine the cause of
the failure. To be able to copy everything that is stored in memory, you must
have a paging file size that can hold everything in memory, plus some additional
space to gather the data.
Software Requirements
On all Mailbox servers with a 64-bit processor, you must
install the hotfixes such as Update for Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition (KB904639)
and Update for Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition (KB918980). In addition, Exchange
2007 requires that you do not have the Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP)
service or the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) service installed.

For computers that have the Mailbox server role installed,
you must also install some Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 components.
Although the server roles that require these components have been separated
from the Mailbox server role, the prerequisites have not yet been removed
from the Mailbox server role. To install the Mailbox server role, the following
IIS 6.0 components must be installed using Add or Remove Programs in Windows
Control Panel:
- Enable network COM+ access
- Internet Information Services
- World Wide Web Service
For computers that have the Client Access server role
installed, you must also install the following components:
- World Wide Web Service
- Remote procedure call (RPC) over Hypertext Transfer Protocol
(HTTP) Proxy Windows networking component
