Civil 3D 2008 Introduction to Corridor Design
AutoCAD Training Overview

Autodesk Civil 3D supports a wide range of civil engineering tasks and creates intelligent relationships between objects. This interactive course is recommended for users that are required to understand and create introductory level road corridors using Civil 3D.

This course is also ideal for managers that require a basic overview and understanding of this aspect of Civil 3D.

Students that attend this course are provided a Project Workbook, and with the help of an Instructor facilitating the class, students progress through the workbook learning the requisite knowledge.

The exercises include configuring objects and object styles that are used in the Civil 3D design process. You will use tools to model existing ground surfaces, layout alignments, create profiles and profile views, sub-assemblies and assemblies, and cross section views. Additional exercises will include calculating volumes, a tour of pipes layout, and sharing Civil 3D project data.

AutoCAD Training Topics

  • The AutoCAD Civil 3D Environment
  • Toolspace
  • Settings and Defaults
  • Object Styles
  • Build and Edit Surfaces
  • Sharing Data
  • Project Site
  • Horizontal Alignment
  • Profiles
  • Subassemblies and Assemblies
  • Corridor Modeling
  • Corridor Cross-Sections
  • Corridor Model Volumes
  • Basic Pipes
  • Parcels
For those users looking to gain a broader and more in-depth understanding of Civil 3D and its functionality, consider taking the Fundamentals for Civil 3D 3-day training course.

Prerequisites

Successful completion of AutoCAD Level 1 & 2, or equivalent. A working knowledge of Civil Engineering practices and terminology would be an asset.
