Adobe Training Overview

InDesign® 2.0 for Print Service Providers is a hands-on instruction book that teaches print service providers to use Adobe InDesign 2.0 to generate high-quality print and electronic output.

Adobe Training Prerequisites

To ensure your success, we recommend you first take the following courses or have equivalent knowledge:

  • InDesign® 2.0: Level 1
  • InDesign® 2.0: Level 2

Hardware/Software Requirements

You will need

  • For a Windows installation:
  • An Intel Pentium II or faster processor. Optimally, an Intel Pentium II 300 MHz or faster processor.
  • Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 Workstation with Service Pack 4, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.
  • At least 75 MB of free hard disk space (for minimum installation).
  • At least 48 MB of RAM. Optimally, 64 MB or more of RAM.
  • A video card that supports 256-color at 800 x 600 monitor resolution. Optimally, a high-resolution (24-bit super VGA or greater) video display card.
  • For a Macintosh installation:
  • A PowerPC 604 processor or greater. Optimally, a PowerPC G3 or G4 processor.
  • Mac OS 8.5, 8.6, or 9.0.
  • At least 120 MB of free hard disk space for installation. Operation may require additional hard disk space.
  • At least 48 MB of RAM with virtual memory on; 96 MB of RAM with virtual memory off. Optimally, 120 MB of RAM.
  • A monitor with resolution of 832 x 624 pixels (minimum). Optimally, a high-resolution 24-bit screen display.
  • A CD-ROM drive.
  • An Internet connection.
  • Adobe InDesign 2.0.
  • Adobe Photoshop 5.5 (or later version).
  • Adobe Illustrator 9.0 (or later version).
  • Adobe Acrobat 5.0.
Performance-Based Objectives

Lesson objectives help students become comfortable with the course, and also provide a means to evaluate learning. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Open files in InDesign and prepare them for printing.
  • Use InDesign's graphics and color tools to manipulate images and color output.
  • Implement InDesign's printing options and Print Styles.
  • Set up InDesign's workstation configuration and build upon its extensibility through third party plug-ins
