Discreet Courses Overview
3ds max 4: Animation is a hands-on instruction book that will introduce you to animating with 3ds max.
Prerequisites
The student should have completed the 3ds max 4: Introduction course or have equivalent knowledge. A working knowledge of Windows 98/2000 is also important.
Delivery Method:
3ds max 4: Animation is an instructor-lead course with providing ample hands-on task opportunities which provide the student with program experience.
Hardware/Software Requirements
You will need:
- Intel-compatible processor, running at 300 MHz or better.
- Graphics card that supports at least 1024x768 resolution at High Color (1280x1024 at True Color recommended).
- Windows 98 or 2000.
- At least 128 megabytes (MB) or Random Access Memory (RAM) (256 MB recommended).
- At least 400 MB of free hard disk space.
- At least 300 MB swap file space.
- A CD-ROM drive.
- A mouse or compatible tracking device.
- To view the online help, Internet Explorer 5.0.
- Windows Media Player (or other player that supports AVI playback).
Performance-Based Objectives
Lesson objectives help students become comfortable with the course, and also provide a means to evaluate learning. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Create a simple animation, adjust the frame rate and duration of the animation, render a preview, and export the animation.
- Identify the Track View animation editor and use it to control and show the values and timing that produce animations.
- Identify lights and lighting parameters and animate them in your scenes.
- Identify materials and material parameters and animate them in your scenes using the Material Editor and Material/Map Browser.
- Identify common modifiers and their properties and animate them in your scenes.
- Define path animation and learn how to apply cameras, dummy helpers, and link objects in your scenes using the Motion panel and Path controller.
